Downtown Milton celebrated with a grand opening party of Jamba Juice & Yogurtys Froyo Frozen Yogurt. at 147 Main Street – former home of the CIBC Bank.  It was a red carpet  outdoor summer party- with a live DJplaying tunes, Froyo the bear dancing with a banana, The staff at Jamaba juice were handing out samples of smoothies. I liked the Mango banana smoothie really refreshing for a hot day.

The Yogurty’s Staff were signing up customers for the

Yogurtys  Froyo Nation Points card(get free 500 points) as they waited in the long line to go inside for the free frozen Yogurt. The wait was about 10 minutes long, but the MC kept us entertained having free giveaways, dancing contests, having us tweet that we are Yogurtys grand opening to win free swag :). As we went in the store, a gal handed us a cup, and we filled our cup with which flavors we liked, and topped with off with toppings. My favorite flavor was Tiramisu and chocolate mixed together.

I had the pleasure of talking to Karen Sterling  Chief Marketing Officer of Yogurtys  and Jamba Juice about the  grand opening in Milton and the unique concept of Yogurty’s.

“Milton its a wonderful community to be part of  and it has been a great turnout”

The concept behind Yogurty’s:Yogurty’s  is  a Canadian base company with everything made in Canada. It’ all about choice, there are few places where you can go in and pick and choose what you want. The process is very simple you take cup, fill it up and they have  12 – 16 flavors changing daily.  They carry over 85 flavors and top it off with what you craving. They have 50 toppings to choose from – (fruits, sprinkles, chocolate chip and many more). In total Yogurtys has 150 flavors and toppings.

Jamba Juice is an American based company with over 800 locations, with finally proud to bring to Canada. They are known for worlds best smoothies.

My experience at the 10th annual Tranformers conventions

I am back from the 2 day TFcon , i’m very exhausted but, i had a great time, with alot of pictures, did a lot of cool interviews, will keep my busy for awhile 🙂

This was my first TFcon  i am a regular at other conventions. First off i would like to say thank you to  Colin and his staff and of course the volunteers for their extreme hard that went into putting in the convention. They were helpful and friendly and if i had any  general questions or who to talk to about doing interviews they were great. They actually care about what fans what and listen to them and treat them well. They also had dvd’s for sale from previous years, i want to get one with Micheal Bell  Dan Gilvezan, and Paul Eiding from previous years.

Dealer Rooms/Artist Alley:

I had arrived  10am Saturday, dropped off my  Darth Vader helmet signed by David Prowse for the charity  auction and then got in line to buy my ticket $20 entry fee (reasonable)bit of line up. They were some vendors in-front of registration table and went down the hall into the alley way wow it was jam traffic jam with a lot of people, i felt bad for the artists they have must been cramped. The dealer room was huge a lot of vendors selling G1 Toys, GI -Joe mix of everything, some custom made items. It was nice to see the toys growing up as a kid. The prices for the transformers G1 toys were expensive $40 – 600 as they r collector toys and people actually spend couple hundred during conventions. If i had the space i would be buying alot of g1 figures as i grew up watching it.

The Guests:

Wally Burr:  I had been exchanging emails with Wally for sending some pictures  for the characters that he filled in for other voice actors to get signed.  when i heard that Mr. Burr was coming for the TFcon i said i must arrange an interview with him, called his office in LA to arrange something but Mr Burr is a busy man ;).

As i was walking down the lobby towards the bar, i ran into Wally Burr, and introduced myself told him that i sent him some pictures to get signed, He goes i remember you. I told him it was an honor to finally meet him.

We talked for bit and walked down together towards the dealers room. I asked him if i could do an interview with him for the blog, he goes yes, and i was a great start to the day with running into Wally Burr in the lobby. I had heard that Mr. Burr had done 80 pushups on Friday night at the bar, :). Mr Burr was very fun to interview had a lot of stories to tell, i am very honored to meet the voice directing legend and interview him who directed my favorite show growing up as kid “Transformers.”  He has a great sense of humor, interacting with fans, having lunch with a fans.  I got Mr. Burr to do a promo for the blog 😉

Neil Ross:  I had previously emailed Mr. Ross to send some pictures of his characters Slag, Bonecrusher and Hook to get signed he goes mail them to me his office. When i had found out that Mr. Ross was attending the con, i was like must setup an interview with him, he goes if he has some time.  Then i ran to Mr. Ross when he was arriving for his panel with Wally. The panel was really good and funny they told old stories, i had a great time. So after the panel, i talked to Neil about meeting with him in the lobby for an interview. The interview was about 11minutes long, and was really honored to interviewed somebody who i grew up watching. It was pleasure meeting him a great guy,and i got him to record a promo for the blog in slag’s voice.

Scott McNeil: also a veteran voice actor for about 20 years, he is best known for his voice work in  Transformers: Beast wars. I grew up watching the G1 series and never got into any other reboots of Transformers.  I hadn’t known Scott until i got to hang with him during the weekend. He was alot fun, told funny stories, interacted with everybody did funny voices. He had told us that he had signed a rattrap around the hotel, we went looking for  it, it is by the pool area outside.

He was outside and goes i have to do this and goes and signed another one, and luckily we were all there to see  him sign it in person :). I asked Scott on saturday if i could do an interview with him around 12pm on Sunday, in the bar area and he goes that would be good, and i was excited. Some of Scott fans stopped by and told them i would be interviewing him and they hung out until he came, Venessa dressed in her Optimus prime costume, fangirl Kris , and many more. I thought it be cool to have Scotts fans with him in the interview, he told funny stories, did voices.  I had asked him to record a promo for the blog as the waspinator

Autographs:

The autograph were free with the admission, the  lines up were long but they were very well organized and they moved pretty quick . Fans brought comic books, prints, toys, Transformers dvds to get signed.

I waited about 10 minutes  in line and i got my custom cards of Hook, Bonecrusher, Slag and Pointblank signed. After that i went over to Wally Burr and took out my  my Kreemzeek, Seaspray and Thundercracker custom cards that i had made to get signed by Wally. I showed him the cards that he had signed before and showed him  my album with custom cards signed by Jack Angel, Dick Gautier and he goes you are huge fan aren’t you, and told him about my Project G1 project where i been writing to fellow G1 voice actors and sending them pictures to get autographed.

Delta Meadowvale Staff:

A huge shout out to the Delta Meadowvale staff as they were very helpful, friendly during the convention. The staff was wearing Autobot and Decepticon buttons, and a guy working at guest services knew i was a huge TF fan and gave me his buttons.

The bar at the hotel had a special  menu for us so it was affordable – i had the nachos for lunch  on Saturday and wow it was plateful of nachos with cheese, veggies  very filling and delicious.

On Sunday they had a  continental breakfast – with toast, muffins, croissants  and breakfast buffet – pancakes, french toast, bacon/sausages, scrambled eggs and a scrambled egg with veggies.  I love buffets, so i had the scrambled eggs, with french toast and orange juice. After i tried scrambled eggs with veggies and smoked salmon, it was very filling and didn’t have lunch :).

The bar had a specially designed menu with the drinks were Transformers based: Deceptishot, Shafter, Waspinator,  The Canadian Slag, TFcon Shot, and Energon juice.

In closing – i had really good time. met a lot of  people, i got alot of interviews over the past 2 days (coming soon). One thing that i like about voice actors that they are very loyal, genuine to their fans.  Scott McNeil was hanging out with the fans outside or in the bar, chilling, telling funny stories, doing voices. Wally Burr still has the great sense of humor and had great stories to tell. I would highly recommend this convention to newbies, with panels, costume contests, customizing class, autograph signings with voice actors, comic book artists.

TFcon is fan oriented convention run by fellow Transformers fan.  They try to bring guests from the G1 series and other Tranformers franchise and its held yearly. TFcon staff has panel after the convention with questions, feedback for the staff about upcoming guests, volunteering or any concerns.

I have taken pictures over the two days at the conventions and did alot of interviews so stay tuned for them.

Transformers G1 Project: Wally Burr

I had emailed Mr. Wally Burr the voice Director for Tranformers G1 for an autograph part of my Transformers G1 Project – where i have been mailing G1 voice-actors for autographs.  Mr. Burr filled in the voice for the late Mr. Scatman Crothers (voice of  Jazz) in the episode  Kreemzeek.

Mr Burr also filled in  for voice legend The late Mr. Don                 Messick   (voice of Ratachet) in the episode “Masquerade”

Bugsplat – 1969 custom VW Beetle

I had the opportunity to talk Paul Donaghy  the creator of the custom 1969 Volkswagen Beetle “Bugsplat” at Classic Car show in Milton.

The idea for Bugsplat came when Paul was originally making a empty sportster a metal dune buggy.  Originally a 1969 Volkswagen Beetle, he cut and rearranged it to give its look. It’s made out of all metal and wielded construction no fiberglass. It has all new construction high performance parts. The way the car got its name was – If somebody had taken a Volkswagen Beetle or bug and it has been splat”

Bugsplat was born from 1500 man hours.  “That’s a lot of weekends”

Here are some Specs of the Car:

  • 4 Wheel Disc Break
  • Front VW Fenders on back.
  • High Performance 1776 Engine
  • Front fenders made out of Mold A Spare tire covers
  • Boston Mini hubcaps
  • 39  Ford pickup headlights
  • 1960 Buick taillights
  • 1985 Honda Civic seats reworked

The 10th Annual Transformers Convention returns

The 10th Annual Transformers Conventions returns this weekend at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centrethis weekend – July 27th to July 29th 2o12.

I remember watching each episode religious as a kid after school making sure i didn’t miss any episodes.  As every kid favorite auto-bot was Optimus Prime  and wanted to be like him. I had some toys while growing up, sadly they are all given away ;(.

I  cant believe after being a huge Transformers fan i have missed out on 9 years of this con with some great G1 guests over the years :

Michael McConnohie (Tracks), Micheal Bell (Prowl, sideswipe, swoop), Gregg Berger ( Grimlock, skyfire) Dan Gilvezan(Bumblebee) Paul Eiding(perceptor).

The guest lineup for this  year is phenomenal :

Legendary voice Director Mr. wally Burr known for his intense recording sessions.  He directed cartoons like GI-Joe – Real American Hero, Tranformers and alot more.  I have had the pleasure of sending Mr. Burr some pictures of characters he filled in for voice-actors  Jazz and Ratchet to get signed, he is great with fan mail :).

Mr Neil Ross a veteran voice actor: who has been part of the G1 franchise since season 1. He is known for voicing popular characters like Dinobot – Slag, Constructicons: Bonecrusher and Hook, and also crosshairs (a toy i had as a kid) and pointblank. Mr. Ross has also worked on the  Original GI-Joe series voicing the Cobra Biker gang – Buzzer and Monkey Wrench (as they being my favorite character and had their action figure growing up :).

Mr. Bob Budiansky –  Transformers Comic Writer: he is well known in the original G1 Tranformers universe. He a is the writer for the Transformers marvel comics back in the 1980’s which were based of course off the cartoon series.  He wrote the descreptive spec bios of the transformers on the back of the toys during the 1980’s . They are a cool concept, i took the base card and redesigned them to make look like a playing card for card game i used to play as a kid Top Trumps.

If you are huge Transformers fan like me, i would highly recommend going to this 2 day convention with a lot to do during the 2 days. There is a dealers room where you can buy/trade to complete your G1 Toy collection. Make sure to check out the charity auction with all the proceeds go to the Make A Wish Foundation Canada and with alot of great items.  There is  a lot of interesting panels  like History of cybertron, Q&A with the guests, How to get into voice acting, Transformers Costume Contest,  Live Script Reading.

There is the screening of the Original Transformers animated movie (not the terrible Micheal Bay version), i am looking forward to watching it again with fellow Transformers fans and the special guests, will be a real treat :).

Lastly of course autograph signing with the guests which is free with the the admission. I made my own cards of the voice actors to get signed. i am working on Tranformers G1 Project – where i can mailing the surviving voice actors to autograph the card i made of their characters they voiced. So far i have 4.

I will be there Saturday and Sunday taking alot of pictures  and doing interviews also for the blog. I am looking  forward to meeting Mr. Ross and Mr. Burr and hope to do an interview with them about Transformers :).
